Pharma, logistics, exports, life style companies among many to participate in LPU’s Mini Job Fest

It was placement time for students of Lovely Professional University, as five companies visited their campus to participate in the Mini Job Fest, aimed at providing attractive and lucrative employment opportunities to passing out students from various disciplines of learning. Among the various companies that participated in the fest were Advik Laboratories (Pharmaceuticals), Deep Blue Express (Logistics), Lakhani Footwears (Life Style), Global Ventures (Furniture Exports) and Inter Biotech (Biotech). A total of 60 students were short listed from various domains of learning viz. Mechanical engineering, Electronics engineering, Marketing Management etc.

Rajiv a shortlisted student said that he missed out on the last placement program held in the campus, but made to it this time. The University is holding placement programs more frequently, and this allows for students who had missed earlier to catch the bus again.

The companies selected the professionals by putting in place varied selection criteria. Some chose the students purely on the basis of interview, while others were up with written examination as well. Global Ventures and Deep Blue Express lead the pack with 14 short-listings each. The annual pay packages accorded to the students were to the tune of Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU congratulated the successful students and apprised that the more such fests are going to be held as the academic session progresses. She said that many companies are evincing strong interest in students from LPU, and LPU is hopeful of a record number of placements this year. Placement season usually picks up heat by end of February, and a pleasantly good number of placements are expected for the final year students, before the batches pass out. She also apprised that soon LPU students are to participate in the placement program of Infosys, which has been a regular recruiter of students from LPU for past few years.
